The Serve Team is about helping you discover your God-given gifts and using them to make a real difference. We believe you have something to give and there’s a place for everyone in our serve team, with a variety of teams and flexible opportunities that make it easy to get involved.

Freedom Kids Team

mission:

To teach children about God in an age-relevant way. They love and invest in children so that families can follow Jesus together. They do this by sharing God’s word in a creative way so children can connect with Jesus on their level. 

responsibilities:

  • Set up a fun, safe, and engaging environment where every child feels at home.

  • Organise crafts, activities, and resources that help children learn about Jesus in a creative way.

  • Support other teams in greeting new and returning families, check children in, and ensure every child feels seen, known, and valued.

  • Guide children through activities and moments that instil faith and community in the hearts of the children attending.

  • Follow safeguarding principles and create a secure environment for every child.

  • Refresh the space and materials in-between services so that the next teams are set-up to win. 

  • Clean, reset, and get everything ready to welcome the next generation again for our next services. 

Serve Times: arrives 1.5 hours before the service and finishes 45 minutes after the service ends.

As part of creating a safe environment for everyone, volunteers on this team will complete additional safeguarding checks in line with our policy.

connect team

mission:

To help new and returning guests take their next steps with Jesus and to get connected into the Freedom Church family.

responsibilities:

  • Set up the Connect area and prepare gifts for first-time guests

  • Connect with new guests and help guest families check-in to Freedom Kids

  • Help returning guests build connections within the community

  • Share key information and next steps, including Church Centre and Connect Course

Serve Times: arrives 1.5 hours before the service and finishes 45 minutes after the service ends.

welcome team

mission:

To create a warm and inviting environment for everyone who attends our services, helping to make sure each person feels loved from the moment they arrive until they leave.

responsibilities:

  • Set up outdoor and indoor signage

  • Prepare the service spaces

  • To welcome those attending

  • To help guests find a seating that they're comfortable with during our services

Serve Times: arrives 1 hour before the service and finishes 30 minutes after the service ends.

hospitality team

mission:

To facilitate meaningful moments of fellowship by providing excellent service and good refreshments. They help our caffe times feel like family so that people can easily belong and find community.

responsibilities:

  • Set up the caffe space by preparing refreshments, and ensuring everything is ready for after the service.

  • Serve guests with drinks and snacks during caffe times. 

  • Reset and prepare the space between services as needed to keep everything running smoothly.

  • After the event, clean all equipment, restock supplies, tidy the area, and update any shopping needs. 

Serve Times: arrives 1.5 hours before the service and finishes 1 hour after the service ends.

production team

mission:

To ensure our services run smoothly so people can encounter Jesus in a distraction free environment. They use their skills to make a way for God to move in the seen and unseen moments of our services.

responsibilities:

  • Set Up Equipment: turn on and connect all sound, video, and livestream systems

  • Test & Prepare: check microphones, playback, and troubleshoot any issues.

  • Facilitate Rehearsals: work together with the worship team to facilitate smooth rehearsal times before 

  • Produce the Service: oversee and manage all technical elements during the event.

  • Set-down: shut down and pack away all equipment after the service.

Serve Times: arrives 1.5 hours before the service and finishes 1 hour after the service ends.

The production team also serves alongside the worship team at practice time during the week.

worship team

mission:

To humbly use their musical gifts to glorify God and lead others into moments of authentic worship. They choose passion over perfection, serving Jesus wholeheartedly by ensuring that their Sunday worship flows from a daily overflow of their relationship with Jesus. 

responsibilities:

  • Prepare Well:  learn songs, practice diligently, pray, and come to practices and services ready to lead others humbly.

  • Rehearsals- run through the song lists, and confirm lyrics and transitions with the production team.

  • Set Up & Sound Check: ensure all equipment is working properly.

  • Lead with Excellence: lead the church in worship smoothly, support the flow of the service and stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit and our leaders' guidance.

  • Set-down: switch off all worship equipment, tidy stage area, and prepare equipment for the next service.

Serve Times: arrives 1.5 hours before the service and finish 1 hour after. Additional midweek rehearsals are required.

Before joining the worship team, you’ll be invited for a short audition and to answer some questions about your faith.
